Customizing Your Webchat Widget

You can determine what your widget looks like in a variety of ways. You can create a custom greeting, add a personalized image, change the chat bubble color and style, and choose its position on your website. You’ll also be able to see a preview of the options you chose before you make any changes.

If you have access to Pro features, you can also create a custom greeting for returning website visitors, choose primary and accent colors, and more.

Changing Your Widget’s Appearance

1. Click the settings (gear) icon or marketing drop down and select Webchat.
   
   
2. Click the widget you want to customize.
   
3. Click Appearance.
   
4. Select the chat bubble icon you want website visitors to see.
   
5. Select whether the chat bubble will be shown on the left or right side of your web page.
   
6. Enter a short greeting, no more than 65 characters. You might want to mention that questions will be answered via text message.
   
7. Click Edit image to add an avatar. (You can use the default image or select from profile images your teammates have added to their Podium profiles.)
   
8. To choose a color for your chat bubble, enter a hex code or click the color checkmark and select the color you want.
   
9. Click Save.

Adding Webchat Pro Customizations

If you have access to Pro features, you can make some additional customizations to your widget. These include the ability to add an intro message, choose primary and accent colors, edit the header, create a custom greeting for returning website visitors, and show/hide the Podium logo.

To make additional Pro customizations:

1. Click the settings (gear) icon or marketing drop down and select Webchat.
   
   
2. Click the widget you want to customize.
   
3. Click Customize Pro.
   
4. In Intro Message, enter the default text message you want to send to website visitors when they contact you through Webchat. 
   
5. Enter a hex code or click the color checkmark and select the color you want for your primary color (for the header and text messages) and your accent color (used for checkmark).
   
6. Choose the information about your business that you want to appear in the text message header. (Your business name and address are part of your Podium account and can’t be edited.)
   
7. If you want to use a personalized greeting for returning website visitors, turn on Enable Custom Greeting and select whether or not to include the visitor’s name in your message.
   
8. Choose whether or not you want to show or hide the Podium logo.
   
9. Click Save.
