Troubleshooting DNS Settings (WisePOS E Card Readers)

Before changing your DNS settings, make sure that you’ve completed the basic troubleshooting recommendations listed in “Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Connectivity Issues.

Updating DNS Settings on Mac

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. Click Network.
  3. Click Advanced. If your network settings are locked, click the lock icon and enter your password to make changes.Click DNS.
  4. Click the Add (+) icon.
  5. Add the following IP addresses:
    • 8.8.8.8
    • 8.8.4.4
    • 1.1.1.1
    • 1.0.0.1
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Apply.

After updating your DNS settings, sign out of Podium and then sign back in. Once you’ve signed in, follow the steps to set up your card reader. If you are still unable to connect your card reader, repeat steps 1 through 4 and then follow these additional steps:

  1. Click the Subtract (-) icon.
  2. Remove the following IP addresses:
    • 8.8.8.8
    • 8.8.4.4
    • 1.1.1.1
    • 1.0.0.1
  3. Click the Add (+) icon.
  4. Add the following IP addresses:
    • 2001:4860:4860::8888
    • 2001:4860:4860::8844
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Apply.

After updating your DNS setting a second time, sign out of Podium and then sign back in. If you are still unable to set up your card reader, contact Podium Support by logging into your Podium account and initiating a live chat.

Updating DNS Settings on Windows

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Network & Internet.
  4. Click Change adapter options.
  5. Right click your network connection (typically Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  6. Click Properties. If your network settings are locked, you will be prompted to enter your password to make changes.
  7. Click Networking.
  8. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  9. Click Advanced.
  10. Click DNS.
  11. Remove any IP addresses from the DNS server address box.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Use the following DNS server addresses.
  14. Enter 8.8.8.8 for the preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 for the alternate DNS server.
  15. Click OK.

After updating your DNS settings, sign out of Podium and then sign back in. Once signed in, follow the steps to set up your card reader. If you are still unable to connect your card reader, repeat steps 1 through 7 and then follow these additional steps:

  1. Double click Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Click DNS.
  4. Remove any IP addresses from the DNS server address box.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Use the following DNS server addresses.
  7. Enter 2001:4860:4860::8888 for the preferred DNS server and 2001:4860:4860::8844 for the alternate DNS server.
  8. Click OK.

After updating your DNS setting a second time, sign out of Podium and then sign back in. If you are still unable to set up your card reader, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Network & Internet.

  8. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

  11. Remove any IP addresses from the DNS server address box.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Use the following DNS server addresses.
  14. Change the preferred DNS server from 8.8.8.8 to 1.1.1.1.
  15. Change the alternate DNS server 8.8.4.4 to 1.0.0.1.
  16. Click OK.

Sign out of Podium and sign back in. Follow the steps to set up your card reader. If you are still unable to set up your card reader, contact Podium Support by logging into your Podium account and initiating a live chat.
